Master Bathroom Remodel: Brien
This client had a small master bathroom with outdated tile and furnishings. The space was too small to be functional for her needs. However, right next to the master bathroom was a large laundry room, where most of the square footage was unused.
To make better use of the space, we enlarged the master bathroom and closet with the wasted areas of the laundry room. This still left us with plenty of space for a fully functional laundry room with a sink.
Because this client wants to stay in her home as long as possible, we updated the master bathroom with an “aging in place” design to anticipate future needs. We created a vanity with two sinks: one for standing up and one for sitting down that will allow for a wheelchair if one is ever needed. We also installed a curbless shower for easier access and grab bars for added safety when the shower floors become slippery. Additionally, we installed a motion sensor light under the vanity to make trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night less hazardous.
What the client really likes about the new design, aside from the added space and new safety features, is the relaxing fireplace over the tub, colors that bring warmth in the winter season, and hand held body sprays in the shower. She also likes that the new toilet is not only sleek and stylish, but is also easier to clean.
